The digital innovation race and the emerging new world order as shaped by a co-evolution of National and Corporate Innovation Systems
Bengt-Åke Lundvall from Aalborg University will present a recently published book, co-authored with Cecilia Rikap. The presentation is titled:
The digital innovation race and the emerging new world order as shaped by a co-evolution of National and Corporate Innovation Systems
You can find the abstract below:
The presentation is based on new book co-authored with Cecilia Rikap (Rikap and Lundvall 2021). I will present the ongoing transformation of the world order as reflecting a new phase of the ICT-revolution with artificial intelligence as its core. It will be argued that this specific technological revolution has opened a window of opportunity for China to challenge US world leadership. It will be demonstrated that the on-going transformation reflects a co-evolution of national innovation systems and corporate innovation systems, led by tech giants. A co-evolution that involves co-operation as well as conflicts. I will also address what the US-China rivalry and the dominant role of tech giants in shaping the applications of AI implies for Europe and for developing countries. The presentation may regarded as an attempt to study ‘the present as history’.
